A gravity toggle (also called a toggle bolt) is a cavity fixing system designed for hollow wall applications such as plasterboard, drywall, and hollow block. It consists of a threaded bolt and a hinged or pivoting wing mechanism. When inserted through a drilled hole, the wings open by gravity or spring force behind the wall surface, creating a wide bearing surface that distributes load over a larger area. Once expanded, tightening the bolt pulls the wings firmly against the inside of the cavity material, providing strong holding power where traditional anchors would fail.
